How to set up an Xsen suit

My group will be using motion capture for the animation for all the characters. Will be using an Xsen motion capture suit that is wireless. We will be able to capture accurate movements using the MTw trackers. The trackers will create joints tracking accurate movement.

The first thing we did was get our volunteer, Faris, an Xsen shirt. It is important that the shirt is a tight fit, loose areas can affect the joints that leads to inaccuracies. We then attached about 17 MTw trackers to the designated joints. Making sure that every tracker is on by pressing the button that one of the sides. Starting from the top, we placed a tracker in a headband for the head. The shirt has a Velcro patch on the back of the t-shirt for the upper back where the shoulder would be and another and a little pocket inside of the t-shirt for the sternum. The other trackers will be attached using straps for the upper arms, forearms, hands, upper legs, lower legs which are placed under the kneecap, and the feet.

With the Xsen motion capture software we will start a new motion capture session. Making sure that we set the configuration to full body, scenario we put a single level since we will be on a flat surface, and then added the height and foot size of the person that's going to be wearing the suit. After we are done adding the information it asks, we can place it to a folder, but it will not let you change the name when recording. So, we had to write down which recording we liked and what movements they were.

Once all that is done, we will do a calibration. The computer provides instructions for things to do like walking around and standing still. As soon as its done calibrating we see in the software a model that is doing the exact movements of the person wearing the suit.

Before we start recording, we must make sure we are setting the model in place to the correct orientation. Then we press the record button.
